Candidate – Damian Ferrari

My name is Damian Ferrari and I am again running for council.

I am a local person and as such am aware of many of our local needs that pertain to council.

To start I thought I might highlight some projects that I have been involved in securing for Beaufort.

• The old Beaufort Primary School oval.
• Lake foreshore projects, (yet to be fully completed.)
• Securing funding to revitalise the Beaufort Caravan Park.
• New bowling green at the golf club.
• Recycled sewerage water for town green spaces.
• New cricket nets.
• New lighting for the Beaufort Football Oval.
• Strongly supported the status quo for Beaufort library.
• Red Light camera at the traffic lights.

We have had a number of significant emergencies in recent years and I have a long history in emergency management, having been affected by the fires personally, I’m acutely aware of what people are experiencing and the need for understanding and compassion.

Since being on council, I have advocated for better accountability, communication and consultation and if elected will continue to do so.

I have also been striving to have better accountability for project management to avoid cost overruns and ensure contractor accountability.

We can’t do everything; we simply don’t have the resources so its important that council consults with the community and prioritises projects the community expect to be undertaken.

We have a 2000 km road network to maintain so it’s important that we keep on top of our road maintenance and not let it get away from us.

Funding is getting more difficult to obtain so the value of strategic priorities certainly can’t be underestimated.

I will continue to be a strong advocate for our beautiful town, Beaufort , and strive to ensure we aren’t forgotten and get our fair and equitable share of funding across the board.
