Candidate – Fiona Williamson

I am proud to be the only candidate who lives, volunteers and works full-time in our ward.

I’m the only candidate with significant volunteering in the ward through groups like the CFA (firefighter), Pyrenees Community House (Chair), Hall Secretary, and Landcare President, among many roles.

I have seen the opportunities and challenges our towns face firsthand, particularly at the Bayindeen fire front, and I understand what is needed to help them thrive.

I’ve had the privilege of working with small towns like Redbank to prepare for future disasters.

My efforts have secured $300,000 in funding for community-led bushfire protection projects, focusing on disaster planning in Moonambel, Amphitheatre, Redbank, and Lexton.

I am committed to enhancing local preparedness  against bushfire threats because the safety of our communities is non-negotiable.

My strong background in economic development, grant writing, and community development equips me to address pressing challenges.

We are facing significant issues, including rising living costs, inflation, a green drought, and population declines in small towns, all threatening our community fabric.

Proactive solutions are essential, starting with supporting our local economy.

This means advocating for small businesses, local farmers, and boosting tourism to create growth opportunities. So many of our wineries and venues aren’t on the map – we need all parts of our tourism hub to work closer together from the paddock to the plate/glass.

I want to ensure our towns flourish which requires strengthening community services and investing in the infrastructure that keeps our region vibrant.

It’s crucial to elect someone who understands the Councillor’s role—to represent the community with integrity, collaborate, and make decisions that benefit every town.

Conflict on the Council only holds us back.

With my experience in public policy, advocacy, and leadership across local community groups, I am prepared to work constructively with others to achieve the best outcomes for our Shire.

Vote for the only active and involved candidate living in our ward. Vote 1 Fiona Williamson.
